Focus on Life: Week 36 ~ In Two

Sally Russick of The Studio Sublime is hosting a year long challenge which is... sublime... as you'd expect with such a studio name. The challenge is named 'Focusing on Life' and every week Sally is sending a prompt on what should we focus the following week.

Sally's prompt for this week was 'There are pairs everywhere in our life: this week let's focus on things in twos'

I debated a bit on what to do - then I realized that, again, Sally seemed to have been in sync with what's going on in my life.

See - we (hubby and I) compete a lot in International Trapshooting. In fact, this is hubby's business now, he is coaching people in trapshooting (both north-american version and Olympic version). We travel over the summer as much as my work schedule and the time (the green type aka as money) allows us. We have a camper and we go over the hills and through US States like a mouse through cheese. We take the child and the dog, and transform each outing in a mini-vacation (when you get a 10 yo boy you need to make it a bit into a vacation, otherwise you'll turn the child against the sport and traveling).

Even now - we are at our last competition of the season, in Pennsylvania. Only this time our trip has a little catch. It is the 2nd time in our lives when we left by ourselves: no dog, no child, no nothing. Just us and the car (not even the camper!).

This is the picture I would like to share with you today:

Focus on life ~ In Twos: trapshooting adventures :: All Pretty Things

A pair of shotguns - ours, with the initials on, so it's easier to grab the proper one - as you can see they are set up quite oppositely... and it happened for one of us to grab the other's, go on the line and think 'What?!'

See how they stay next to each other, waiting patiently to be picked up? They've been with us for 8 years now - and they've traveled as far as Florida to the south, Maine to the east, and Michigan to the west. They've been very good to us and helped us win lots of trophies and now medals. A pair that's perfectly fitted - and just like the pair of human using them, perfectly matched :)

Thanks for visiting today and every day you come by!
Please make sure you check everybody else's 'twos' too :)

  5. Wow - gorgeous shotguns! I love the engraving of your initials and I like how you try and keep them the same but different. I seriously hated it when I grabbed the wrong weapon and went to shoot and you are thinking WTH :) I love that you can do this as a family. Thanks for sharing!

  7. Excellent post. I've seen some gorgeous guns in my day, my ex was a big game guide in Alaska for many years. He has quite an extensive gun collection. Works of art, they are. Nice post. I'm glad you do something fun as a family. That is so important.

  8. I'm not much of a gun connoisseur, Alicia... I actually didn't know what I was looking at in the first picture :) but I feel doing something together as a couple (and as a family) strengthens your bonds like nothing else!

  9. How very interesting! I love that you travel with your son. What a great way to show him this fabulous country and learn some things along the way. A great way to spend time togehter which your son will always remember.

We like to go to the gun range and shoot targets. All our kids love to do this and it's fun!

  11. The many sides of you and your family continually amaze me. Your picture of the guns standing side by side seem to be saying "just as we are".

  13. Looking at the thumbnail I was curious about what you were showing. Sharing a hobby sounds like a great way to connect. What a wonderful way to describe your relationship.

  14. What a great story. Our son is almost 15 and we are constantly going on road trips and adventures together. I think it's so important to expose kids to all different kinds of things.
