Focus on Life: Week 35 ~ Change

Sally Russick of The Studio Sublime is hosting a year long challenge which is... sublime... as you'd expect with such a studio name. The challenge is named 'Focusing on Life' and every week Sally is sending a prompt on what should we focus the following week.

This week she asked us to look for 'Growth or Change'.

Not sure it qualifies as growth - but it surely qualifies as change.

On Monday we had a storm overnight - our sycamores were bright and happy Monday afternoon, but this is what greeted me on Tuesday morning:

Focus on Life: Week 35 ~ Growth and Change: Fall has come! :: All Pretty Things

The whole driveway was entirely covered in a thick 'rug' of brown leaves. Sigh!

Thank you for stopping by.
Please make sure you visit the other participants' view upon Growth and Change :)

    1. Me neither - I simply loathe winter, more so this year for some reasons. Strange choice of a country, eh?!
On the bright side - I **love** autumn, soon we'll start our drives through the red/gold hills!

    1. Me neither - the main problem I have is with what follows (aka winter) :) I actually absolutely love fall, especially here in SW Ontario, where the foliage will start turning all shades from gold to bright red to rusty.

    1. Thanks - and while I love this change to fall, I am not prepared for the next one, from beautiful fall to winter!

  4. I so miss the changing of the leaves. It was my mom's biggest delight to drive out toward the hills in NJ and see the amazing show nature was putting on. Palm trees and pine trees don't change, but here not even the oaks do.

    1. I didn't realize the South won't have leaves turning, Marlene. I think I would miss it dearly, I love the colours of foliage in the fall. But I could surely do with 'smaller' and easier winters. Guess you can't have it all, can I?

  5. It was kind of a sudden change then? Wow.

    1. Absolutely overnight. I look at the tall trees and they are still green, it was the storm that made them drop so many leaves all of a sudden. Oh, well, guess it's time to simply enjoy autumn and stop complaining. Winter will come nonetheless :)

  6. Thankfully our leaves are hanging on and are still pretty green, though I know as the temps get lower, I'll be seeing scenes like this all over!
Great interpretation on this week's prompt :)

    1. Thanks, Claire - I'm actually looking forward to seeing the gold and bright red of the leaves during the next month. What I'm not ready for is the cold which will follow :)

  7. The change of seasons can be a little sudden, but it gives us a new chance to find beauty in something as mundane as a sprinklins of leaves!

    1. Indeed - it's just that I am so not ready for winter this year, not sure why :) But I still love fall - especially here, in South-Western Ontario, where over the month of September the foliage will turn splendid shades of gold and red!

  8. Yes the first signs of fall are here. Your pic does show growth, the growth of a new season.

    1. Voila! I wasn't sure how to add the 'growth' into the equation :) Thanks, Becky, now I have both growth and change.

  9. Yup, change is happening here too. After a horrid week of almost 100* everyday things are changing starting tonight with a drop in temps and humidity. Of course to get there we have to endure mother natures tantrums. I so look forward to autumn.

    1. To autumn I look forward too - here, in SW Ontario we have incredible foliage during September / October. What I'm not looking forward to is what follows :) but it will follow nonetheless, better get ready!

  10. I have always LOVED autumn, Alicia, raking leaves notwithstanding LOL. I think because we moved so often in my military family, for me as a child September meant settling in to a new place and (hopefully) new friends. But I agree, now that I am a *little* older, winter holds less charm!

    1. LOL - I actually love raking leaves. The very first year we moved in this house the child was young (barely 1 1/2) and the maple tree in front of the house produced an amazing amount of leaves... which we made into huge leaf piles... which the child used to jump in for hours and hours! It was such a beautiful moment (we repeat it every year still).

    1. LOL - for fall I am ready, I love it. Winter - eh, that's something else! I could do without this year :)

  12. Ah, but they're lovely leaves. I'm not ready for fall yet though it is my favorite season. Love you photo!

    1. I won't argue with that: they are beautiful. I wasn't ready for my driveway to go from black to 'rusty' in a matter of hours, though :) I do love fall the best here (I used to love spring, but there isn't really a spring where we live now)... just not emotionally ready for the thought of winter :)

  13. Oh, what cool shot! Falling leaves and the changing of their colors isn't something we really get to enjoy at this time of year in the desert, so I always look forward to everyone one else's 'leaf' pics. Great choice for change and growth!

    1. Thanks, I will have to get myself into the 'fall mood' - right now I dread winter more than usual, and that puts a damp of my joy, but I'll regain it, I'm sure!

  14. Ahhh, it's too soon, isn't it?? Too soon! Great shot, though!

    1. I would say so - especially listening to the army of crickets since middle of August. They seem louder this year than in other years... but I promise I will enjoy the fall's colours to the max! Thanks for your kind words :)

  15. Oh no, it still feels like summer. Much too soon for that type of change!

    1. During the day it's very much summer. At night - well, that's another story. It's already chilly and very humid. But I will enjoy the fall, I will enjoy the fall, I will... :)
